Lang Pond Road Update

UPDATE & CORRECTION:  Tuftonboro’s Budget Committee unanimously passed, last Tuesday (Jan. 19, 2016), the inclusion of a warrant article in the amount of $150,000 [and according to Tyler Philips, member of the Budget Committee, Selectmen have raised this amount to $160,000] for the improvement to Lang Pond Road. This warrant article allows for this to move forward for a vote March 9th, 2016 at Town Meeting.

It is important to note that the Selectmen voted to use $100,000 from undesignated fund balance to offset the amount to be raised by taxes, according to Carolyn Sundquist, member Board of Selectmen.

As a brief description this warrant would appropriate $160,000 to improve Lang Pond Road by providing culverts to direct run-off, maintain the road width at no greater than 15 feet, raise the road bed slightly and create swales to move run-off away from the beach and install 200 feet of paving.

Of significant importance to this matter, Mirror Lake Protective Association has paid $5,000 to apply for necessary permits from the State.

A public session on the proposed 2016 Tuftonboro Town budget is scheduled for 6:30 pm, Feb. 2nd at the meeting hall.  Please attend and voice your support.  Town Meeting is scheduled for March 9th, 2016 where the warrant articles will be voted on by residents of Tuftonboro.  The Lang Pond Road article is a critical step in maintaining the water quality of Mirror Lake.  Please reach out to your neighbors that reside in Tuftonboro and ask them to vote favorably on the Lang Pond Road article at the March Town Meeting.  Thank you.
